As an association captive insurance company, 100 percent of Physician Assurance
is owned by
our parent company, the South Carolina Medical Association (SCMA). We are a wholly-owned
subsidiary of the SCMA that serves a select number of physicians who are members
of the SCMA as an alternative to the current malpractice products being offered.
Under the bylaws, membership in the SCMA is the first requirement when beginning
the application process to potentially insure a physician. Physician Assurance is
focused solely on insuring physicians and their practices. SCMA is
the sole owner of Physician Assurance.
